Cam Ward stays in hospital, out a minimum 3-4 weeks
Sunday, 11.08.2009 / 4:30 PM
Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward remained in the hospital Sunday after suffering a skate laceration to his upper leg by Columbus Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash in a game Saturday night, and is expected to miss a minimum of 3-4 weeks.
Ward was injured during the first period of the Hurricanes' 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. He was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus and received stitches for the injury. After being kept overnight, it was decided Sunday that Ward would spend another day in the hospital for precautionary reasons.
He will now be released on Monday and return to Raleigh, N.C., where he will receive further evaluation from the Hurricanes' Head Orthopedic Physician, Dr. Marty Isbell.
"He's stitched up but he has to stay real stable. They want to be careful about infections and those things," Carolina GM Jim Rutherford told The Canadian Press, adding about Ward's recovery period, "It appears it will be a fairly long period of time."
Michael Leighton relieved Ward on Saturday and stopped 19 shots, giving up three goals early in the third period. According to TSN, the options Rutherford is looking at to fill Ward's spot include Justin Peters, who plays at Albany of the AHL, as well as signing or trading for a goaltender.
"We're talking over the options. We don't have an answer right now," Rutherford said.

É Queimado Equipamentos do Wild:
Very little happened on the ice at the Minnesota Wild's practice on
Friday at Kanata Rec Centre in Kanata, Ontario, but things changed
afterward. An equipment truck carrying some of the Minnesota Wild's
gear caught fire in the Scotiabank Place parking lot. There were no
injuries to anyone aboard the van.
The members of the Wild's front office staff are currently in the
process of determining the damage to the equipment, and the team has
released the following statement:
“There was a fire in an equipment van in the parking lot at Scotiabank
Place this afternoon. Some of the Minnesota Wild’s equipment has been
damaged. The Wild is in the process of taking inventory to determine
the damage to our equipment.”
Assistant Equipment Manager Brent Proulx, who travels with the team
tonight, is going to board a plane back to Minnesota tonight. Proulx,
Assistant Equipment Manager Matt Benz and Chris Pietrzak-Wegner will
gather replacement equipment and load it onto a plane bound for Ottawa
at 5:30 AM tomorrow morning.
The plane that will carry the trio and the equipment is scheduled to
carry the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks home from Cleveland following their
game tonight. The plane was originally scheduled to fly from Milwaukee
to Ottawa tomorrow night. It will now fly to the Twin Cities tonight,
and then quickly turn around and head to Canada tomorrow morning with
the replacement equipment in tow.
The Wild's team bus had departed the practice rink separately and
dropped several players off at a local restaurant area. Head Coach Todd
Richards was notified just as the bus pulled into the hotel parking
lot. Richards returned to the scene with Assistant to the General
Manager, Jim Mill, and PR coordinator, Ryan Stanzel.

E a segunda noticia:
Caps trade Clark, Jurcina to Columbus for Chimera
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=511369
Acho que os Caps mandaram bem. Pegaram um cara experiente pro ataque em troca de um jovem e de outro cara mediano (o Clark).
Mas ainda vamos ver a merda que vai dar...
